An Igbosere magistrate court sitting in Lagos on Friday, arraigned a 52 year old man Echebiri Ikechukwu for allegedly impersonating
himself as a custom officer licensed clearing
agent and also for the theft of vehicles worth N7.8million.
The defendant is however facing a
two count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing impersonation and treat to
life preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor sergeant Innocent Odugbo told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences in
the month of January 2014 , at Apapa
area of Lagos state.
He said that the ikechuwu, stole three
Toyota cars worth N5.3million two Toyota corolla 2001 , 2009 and Toyota Camry
2004 model which are properties of one Osagiede Christian.
The prosecutor further alleged
that the defendant impersonated himself
as a Customs clearing agent and obtained
the sum of N2.5million from the complaint in pretence of helping him to clear
the three cars and also had threaten the life of the defendant.
According to the prosecutor the
offences were contrary and punishable under section 410,348,412 and 56 of the
criminal Law of Lagos state 2011.
The defendant however pleaded
guilty to the four count charge against him.
The presiding magistrate Mrs O.Kusanu granted him bail in the sum of N250,000
with two sureties in like sum.
She said that one of the surties
must be blood relation with evide4nce of tax payment to Lagos State with their address
verified
She therefore adjourned the case
to April 25 2016 for mention.
